Zoom AI Companion Pilot
Penn is launching a pilot of Zoom’s AI Companion feature. It allows for generating meeting summaries, catching up on what you missed during a meeting, and asking the Companion feature questions during the meeting to find out what has been discussed on a given topic. The features are unlocked, but off by default. Users will need to individually go into their settings through the Zoom web user interface to turn them on if they elect to do so. Penn is in the midst of renewing the Master Service Agreement (MSA) with the vendor. If the terms of the agreement can not be negotiated to the university’s standards, the pilot will end.
A few things to keep in mind:
It is the responsibility of the meeting owner to discuss with meeting attendees whether to enable or disable the AI Companion service at the outset of the meeting.
Once enabled at the start of the meeting, attendees are notified that the meeting is being transcribed for AI Companion.
Use of AI Companion should be in compliance with applicable University and School policies.
